(DESOTO) The DeSoto girls track and field team will feature a strong distance group for the 2019 season, especially since most of the girls on the team were members of the cross country group that finished 4th at state this past fall. They are Lillie Kaempfe, Kayla Vogelsang, Riley Petsch, and Erika Mellor.
Head coach Terry Frank is certainly excited to have them.

There’s also Jewell Kohler and Kaitlyn McGinnity in the distance group. Kayleigh Eberhardt finished 13th at state in the triple jump last year but has since graduated, leaving Emma Portell to be the frontrunner for success in the jumps this season.

Then there’s the 4×100 relay team from 2018 that won a district championship. Shelby White returns as a senior.
