South Iron Volleyball Preview

(Iron County) When you think about athletics at South Iron High School, basketball is the first sport that comes to mind, but the volleyball team is knocking on the door.

Coach Megan Williams led the Lady Panthers to a fourth place finish at state in 2021 and the team’s most wins ever in her first season. Last year South Iron collected 22 wins before falling to Lesterville in the district championship. Now in her third season, Williams will have most of her starters back from last year.

Williams has four more upperclassmen that will contribute on the court.

And the Lady Panthers should have one more junior ready to take the court this fall.

Williams says chemistry isn’t an issue on her team.

Schools in Missouri were allowed to begin practicing on Monday. Williams began the first practice by not practicing at all.

Williams was asked why it was important to talk with the team before they took the court on Monday.

South Iron has a record of 48-16-5 in two seasons under coach Williams. The Lady Panthers begin the fall campaign Friday, August 25th at home versus Summersville.
