St. Louis man arrested after reportedly assaulting a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy

(Jefferson County) A St. Louis man is behind bars after he allegedly ran over a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy foot during a traffic stop.

According to sheriff’s office spokesman Grant Bissell, the incident happened around 12:55 on Saturday afternoon at the Murphy gas station in the 2700 block of Ridge Point in the High Ridge area.

Deputies set up with spike stripes at the entrance of Highview and Highway 141.

The driver, 21-year-old Dionce Govan, has been charged with 2nd Degree Assault on a Special Victim (Law enforcement officer), Resisting Arrest, 1st Degree Property Damage and Driving on a Revoked or Suspended License.

He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $250-thousand cash only bond.

The deputy was not seriously injured during the incident and refused medical treatment on the scene.
