St. Louis Man Arrested in Festus taken to hospital after found to have existing gunshot wounds

(Festus) Instead of being kept in jail, a St. Louis man arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle was taken to the hospital after he stated he had been suffering from gunshot wounds to the groin.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says the incident happened on October 10th around 4:40 in the morning when officers noticed the man driving the stolen vehicle north on I-55 between Highway 67 and Route A.

The recovered vehicle is a 2003 Dodge Dakota reported stolen out of St. Louis City.

According to Chief Lewis, St. Louis authorities were notified of the arrest and that the vehicle had been recovered.
