St. Pius Beats Perryville 8-4
(FESTUS)    In a high school baseball game heard Friday afternoon on AM 1400 KJFF and mymoinfo.com, the St. Pius Lancers beat the Perryville Pirates 8-4.
The Lancers got off to a good start as they scored six runs in the first inning.  Perryville scored three runs in the second inning and tacked on another run in the 7th.
The Pirates pitching struggled in the first inning after a busy week of playing 8 games in 14 days.  Starting pitcher Waylon Huber took the loss, Caleb Triller relieved in the first inning and pitched the rest of the game.  Getting the win for St. Pius was starting pitcher Chase Waterkotte.
For the Pirates they were led by senior Dane Lauk who had a pair of hits, scored two runs and made a spectacular diving catch in centerfield turning it into a double play as the runner couldn’t get back to second base quick enough to beat Lauk’s throw.
Perryville Coach Don O’Keefe says while Caleb Triller kept the Pirates in the game, the team lost its energy after being down 6-0.

O’Keefe agreed that Dane Lauk in centerfield made a great catch in the fourth inning and he says Lauk is a “gamer”.

St. Pius Coach Oliver says he was glad the Lancers stayed patient at the plate.

Oliver complimented his pitchers Chase Waterkotte and Ty Ortmann.

Perryville slips to  7-13. The Pirates play at Charleston Monday while hosting St. Vincent on Tuesday and Jackson on Wednesday.
St. Pius improves to 12-7. The Lancers play at Cape Central Saturday, they are at West County Monday and on the road Tuesday against Farmington.
They will host Chester on Thursday.
