St. Pius Girls Beat Jefferson for District Title
(FESTUS)    The St. Pius Lady Lancers are the Class 3 District 3 Champions as they beat the Jefferson Lady Blue Jays on the Jays home court 58-31 Friday night.

St. Pius jumped out to a quick 7-0 start and a Jefferson timeout wasn’t enough to quench the fire.  St. Pius led 19-5 at the end of the first quarter.  The Lady Lancers held a  34-15 advantage at halftime.  St. Pius Coach Aaron Portell was glad to get the early lead.

Portell says the Lady Lancers played tough to get the win.

Our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game was P.J. Krodinger who led the Lancers with 19 points.  Portell credited Krodinger’s quickness in the win.

Also scoring in double figures for St. Pius was Carlei Clubb with 13 points.
According to Portell, the team will practice before the weekend ends.

Jefferson was led in scoring by Halayna Loyd with 13 points.  The Jefferson Lady Blue Jays end their season with a record of 18-8, a school record for most wins for the girls basketball team in a season.  Head coach Stevie Holdinghausen said she was proud of her ballclub.

St. Pius will play the Metro Panthers Monday night in the Class 3 Sectional 2 contest. The time and place as of Friday night hadn’t been announced.  Metro won the District 4 tournament with a 46-26 win over Hancock Friday night.  Metro has a record of 13-10.
