St. Vincent Joins Saxony Lutheran In Rolla “Duke” Herbert Tournament Championship

(CRYSTAL CITY, Mo.) The Rolla “Duke” Herbert Championship is set as the number one seeded Saxony Lutheran Crusaders and number two seeded St. Vincent Indians clinched their birth in the title game for the second consecutive season.

Saxony Lutheran would continue to cruise en route to the 94-35 victory. Guard Paiton Miller scored 19 points and forward Austin Jarvis added 19 of his own to lead Saxony Lutheran in scoring. For the Blackcats, it was senior Matt Sales leading the way with 11 points marking his second straight night in double figures.

St. Vincent (2-0) came out scorching hot in the first quarter of semifinal number two behind four three pointers by senior Evan Clifton. The Indians led Grandview (1-2) 37-19 propelling them to a 92-76 win. Clifton would finish with six three pointers including this one in the first quarter…

Clifton finished with a game high 23 points in the contest while guard Trevor Lukefahr scored 19 points to lead the Indians attack. The Indians finished with five players in double figures. For Grandview, it was once again senior Koby Klaus leading the scoring with 30 points. All stats are unofficial.

Despite leading for around 20 points for most of the game, the Eagles soared back in the fourth quarter bringing the game to within nine at one point after trailing by 22 at the start of the quarter. However, key free throws from Lukefahr down the stretch helped seal the game for St. Vincent.

Friday night the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Tournament will conclude at Crystal City High School. Consolation semifinals will be played Thursday night with Crystal City matching up against St. Paul High School, and Jefferson playing the St. Louis Patriots.
