State Senator Wallingford Says Major Cuts Coming to State Budget

(Jefferson City) The Missouri Legislature must finalize the budget by the end of the session this week.

The House has turned in its version.

The Senate is working on it’s response.

Cape Girardeau Senator Wayne Wallingford says they need to cut nearly $1 billion because of the economic hit caused by the coronavirus.

Wallingford says that education will take the biggest hit.

Producing a balanced budget is the only task absolutely required of the legislature by the Missouri constitution.
