(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – The Ste. Genevieve Dragons and the Central Rebels will square-off in the championship game of the MAAA Conference Baseball tournament Saturday afternoon. In the first semi-final game heard Friday afternoon on KREI, Ste. Genevieve defeated the Valle Catholic Warriors 5-2. Ste. Genevieve struck first with a couple of runs in the first inning.

Their offense wasn’t done as they grabbed some insurance in the fourth.

Valle didn’t give up, scoring their first run in the top of the fifth.

In the second semi-final game, Central defeated the North County Raiders 4-0. The Rebels were first on the scoreboard early.

Central scored a run in the third and another in the sixth to make it 3-0. Then, North County came close to scoring in the sixth inning.

However, Briley Smith was stranded at third, then Central scored their fourth and final run in the top of the seventh.

The Raiders put two men on base in the bottom of the seventh, but a double-play brought the game to an end.

Senior Dillon Manion tossed a complete game shut-out for the Rebels. Central head coach Ronnie Calvird had praise for his pitcher.

North County head coach Chris McLain says the Raiders tried to prepare for Manion.

North County will play Valle Catholic in the third-place game Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. It will be followed by the championship game between Central and Ste. Genevieve. You can hear all the action on AM-800 KREI and mymoinfo.com beginning with the pre-game show at 12:45 p.m.
