(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – Two cross-town rivals will face off on the baseball diamond Friday afternoon as the Ste. Genevieve Dragons take on the Valle Catholic Warriors. The Dragons look to get back in the win column after two straight losses, bringing their overall record to 14-4. Dragons coach Mike McDaniel said the community looks forward to this matchup every year.

The Dragons will face a Valle Catholic team that is ranked No. 1 in the Class 2 rankings. At 16-3-1, Valle Catholic has built up a seven-game winning streak, the most recent game coming last Wednesday in a comeback victory over West County. Warriors coach Nathan Gegg said he wants to see how his team responds after a long layoff between games.

At the game, there will also be a fundraiser for Nicki Reed, a Ste. Genevieve school teacher who is battling colon cancer. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon with pregame coverage at 3:15 p.m. on J-98.
