(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – After winning just their third district championship in school history, the Ste. Genevieve Dragons will venture into the Class 4 state baseball tournament starting Tuesday afternoon when they face the Sikeston Bulldogs in the sectional round. The Dragons won the district championship in dramatic fashion on an eighth-inning walk-off hit by Brady Boyer, improving their record to 22-4. Dragons coach Mike McDaniel said the team’s focus will be key.

Sikeston knocked off Cape Notre Dame 4-0 last week in the District 1 championship game and comes into the tournament at 15-7. Bulldogs coach Brett Kolons said his players want to add to the long history of success at Sikeston, a program that has earned 29 district titles and 11 final four finishes.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at VFW Memorial Park in Sikeston. The Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show will begin at 4:45 p.m. on AM-800 KREI.
