Ste. Genevieve County Experiencing Decline in Tax Revenue

Sainte Genevieve County’s sales tax revenue is decreasing.  During last Thursday’s county commission meeting, it was announced the revenue had fallen for the second year in a row, down to $73,843.  Randy Ruzicka is the presiding commissioner of Sainte Genevieve County.  He says retail business loss could be one factor behind the decline.

Ruzicka thinks the decline could be part of a bigger picture as well.

The decrease in tax revenue is nearly 25 percent since 2022, when the county’s tax revenue were confirmed that year at $100,831.  Ruzicka talks about solutions to the decline.
