Ste. Genevieve Quarterback Boyer Accounts for Six Touchdowns, Named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Ste. Genevieve) It was an impressive performance by the Ste. Genevieve Dragons football team this past Friday as they rolled the St. Pius Lancers by a final score of 59-28.

The Dragons were led by sophomore quarterback Aiden Boyer who had a huge day offensively and was named our Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

Boyer finished the game going 6-for-11 through the air for 162 yards and three touchdowns and added 17 carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns – a grand total of 315 yards and six touchdowns.

Ste. Genevieve head coach Ken Weik says he knew that Boyer could sling it, but his running ability is what really stood out on Friday.

Ste. Genevieve began the 2020 season at 0-3 with losses to Festus, Valle Catholic, and Kennett by an average score of 44-11.

The Dragons have done a complete 180 since then, earning back-to-back wins by an average score of 50-17 to improve to 2-3.

Weik attributes part of that turnaround to the development of Boyer under center.

As Athlete of the Week, Boyer will receive a T-shirt, a certificate and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.

The Ste. Genevieve football team will be on the road Friday when they travel to Park Hills to take on the Central Rebels.

We’ll have coverage of that game beginning at 6 on the MyMoInfo SportStream.
