Ste. Genevieve Takes Double-Header Over Mineral Area on KREI

(Bonne Terre) Ste. Genevieve Post 150 won both games of a double-header last (Wednesday) night over Mineral Area Post 416. Ste. Genevieve started out the first game hot with a lead-off single by Jayden Gegg and then Dream Team Athlete Josh Bieser stepped up to the plate.

Some defensive woes from Mineral Area led to more runs for Ste. Gen.

A rare occurrence would happen after the end of the 1st inning. A Mineral Area player would get ejected after a disagreement with the home plate umpire. Post 416 would not have enough players to continue the game, so the game was called a forfeit. Game one would be finished after just one inning with Ste. Genevieve winning 4-0.

We would see a full seven innings in game two and a defensive battle would ensue. Ste. Genevieve would take a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but then an un-timely mistake started a rally for Post 150.

Jayden Gegg would make a game-sealing statement.

Mineral Area would score a late run, but Post 150 would take game two 8-2. Ste. Genevieve pitcher Nathan Selby was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. Selby would have a total of 9 strikeouts and only allowed 5 hits in 8-and-a-half innings between games one and two. Ste. Gen. improves to 17-5 on the season and Mineral Area falls to 4-4.
