Ste. Genevieve Volleyball Wins Class 3 District 2 Championship Over Festus

(FESTUS) The Ste. Genevieve volleyball Dragons are Class 3 District 2 champions! Tonight on the MYMOINFO SPORTS STREAM, the 5th-seeded Dragons defeated 2-seed Festus in 2 sets, 25-23 and 25-17.

First, the Dragons knocked off MAAA Conference regular season and conference champs and top-seed Central in the semifinals, 2 sets to 1. Ste. Genevieve and Central traded 25-23 scores in the first two sets before the Dragons finished with a little power in the 3rd.

 
That was Reed’s 2nd kill to win a set in the match and that kill put the Dragons into the final.

Then the 2nd semifinal took place between 2-seed Festus and 3-seed North County. It was a clean sweep for the Festus Tigers as they won 25-23 and 25-18. Here is match point.

 
The championship match between Festus and Ste. Genevieve was a two-sets sweep in favor of the Dragons. Set 1 went down to the wire.

 
In the 2nd set, it was never really close as Ste. Genevieve won a lot of points at the net. It was the serve from senior Jaida Greminger that was the final point of the night.

It’s the 4th district title in a row for Ste. Genevieve who will now host a Class 3 Sectional match against the champion of District 3 which will either be Affton, Lutheran South, Windsor, or St. Louis Notre Dame. The Dragons will carry a 14 and 14 record into the Sectionals.
