Suspected gunman in A Festus shooting turns himself in to authorities

(Festus) A man who was wanted for reportedly shooting a 43-year-old De Soto man in a Festus park is in custody.

Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis says 20-year-old Toshun Prater of Festus turned himself in on Monday night.

At the time, the victim in the case was taken to an area hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Last update was that he was still in critical condition.

Prater has been officially charged with Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and 1st Degree Assault.

He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
