The Old Settlement Showdown Returns To The Hardwood On J98

(Sainte Genevieve) The Old Settlement Showdown returns to the hardwood Friday and J98 will be there to tell you about it.

The 1-0 Valle Catholic Warriors will make the short trip to Peggy J. Johnson Gymnasium to face the 2-2 Ste. Genevieve Dragons.

The Warriors are coming off of a trip to the Class 2 state quarterfinals last season but they’ll have to find a new source of points due to the graduation of Carter Hoog, the school’s all-time leading scorer. Valle coach Tyler Search says a few guys stepped up in their win over Perryville Tuesday night.

Ste. Gen brought back a few core guys but Dragons coach Rob Coleman says they graduated some key pieces too.

While it’s early in the season and both coaches are still getting a gauge for their teams, Search knows what the Warriors have to do to win.

Ste. Gen has won 15 of the last 19 meetings in the Showdown but Valle has won the last two. The games are always exciting and Coleman is expecting the same Friday night.
