Valle Catholic Baseball Scores Seven Runs in Third Inning, Defeats Central 11-1 in Six Innings

The Central Rebels and Valle Catholic Warriors took the field in an important showdown with the calendar flipping to April.  The top of the first inning was an eventful one, as Central had a man on first with one out and Arkansas State commit Casen Murphy at the plate.

Fallert’s catch was a big one, ending the inning and setting the tone for Valle Catholic.  Central, however, would strike first in the top of the third on an RBI single by Jaxon Jones.  Isaac Viox would tie the game in the bottom half with an RBI double, scoring Alex Viox, who had also doubled.  Colin Henderson would step up to the plate looking to give the Warriors their first lead.

The RBI double by Henderson would continue a seven run third inning for Valle Catholic, which was more than enough to secure the win.  They would go on to beat Central 11-1 in six innings after Carter Grass ended the game on an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Grant Fallert was the winning pitcher, giving up only two hits in five innings en route to the win.  He was named Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.  Manager Nathan Gegg was asked postgame about Fallert and his breaking ball, which set down four Rebels on the afternoon.

Central Manager Ronnie Calvird talked about what the team’s mindset is going forward.

Valle Catholic remains undefeated, with their record moving to 11-0.  They’ll look to remain undefeated tomorrow at home against the Portageville Bulldogs.  As for Central, the loss drops them to 6-4.  They’ll look to pick their record back up Tuesday against the Fredericktown Blackcats.
