Whitman of St. Pius Looking Forward to Basketball District Tournament

(FESTUS) St. Pius Lancer basketball player Senior John Whitman is still on the mend following an ankle injury that has kept him out of several recent games. Prior to Christmas, Whitman was showing strong results on the court and was even selected as the Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.
Whitman says he is looking forward to when he can get back to his regular amount of playing time. He says he like to lead fast breaks.
According to Whitman, he likes playing for Lancer’s head coach Chris Miller.
John says others on the team have also been nursing injuries of late, guys like James Smith. Whitman is hoping the team can put together a good run before the district tournament.
After graduation this spring, Whitman plans to attend and play basketball at Missouri S & T University in Rolla. He will major in mechanical engineering. The Lancers are currently (6-8). On Monday the Lancers will play at Valmeyer, Illinois and on Wednesday the 31st they will host Herculaneum.
