(OWENSVILLE, Mo.) – A championship in a loaded Owensville Invitational field last weekend has propelled junior wrestler Kade Willis for the Central Rebels to J-98’s Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play It Forward Athlete of the Week.

There were no easy matches for Willis in the 132-pound bracket, as he ended up facing three state medalists from last year over the course of his 5 bouts.

In fact, his opening round match was a 4-1 decision against the third-in-state wrestler from a year ago.

He also ended up pinning the second-in-state wrestler from last year, and finished his day with a 16-0 technical fall over the fourth-in-state wrestler from a season prior.

Rebels head coach Scott Aholt talks about the week that was for Kade.

And Aholt says that Willis always gets better with time and the increase in level of competition.

Last year, it was Willis finishing second in state as a sophomore in the 126-pound division.

As part of the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy Play It Forward Athlete of the Week Award, Kade Willis will receive a t-shirt, a certificate, and the Parkland Health Mart Pharmacy will donate $25 to a non-profit of his choice.
