(IMPERIAL) The Windsor Owls wrestling team is coming off a 2017-18 season that witnessed senior Ryan Yarnell go undefeated and win a state championship in the 182-pound weight class. The year prior, the Owls got their first-ever state champion with Jacob Warren.

Even with both guys gone, Windsor returns 145-pound 4th-place state finisher and now junior Grant Pauli as well as state-qualifier and now sophomore Chris Butts. 1st-year head coach and last season’s assistant coach Ryan Bollinger says they both kept busy during the offseason.

Their successes from last season have given Pauli and Butts a chance to take even younger guys under their wing and show them how it’s done.

In addition to Pauli and Butts, coach Bollinger likes the potential in freshman Alex Weatherly among others. He also has a possible stud in female wrestler Reilly Baughman.

Reilly was expected to wrestle in the boys’ 113-pound weight class at Windsor’s first meet of the season Thursday night, but unfortunately neither Oakville nor St. Louis University High had someone available to compete against her. The Owls boys wrestling team did beat Oakville 63-12 and SLUH 45-29 to begin the year 2-0.
