Windsor walks off, wins wild rally vs DeSoto on KJFF

The Windsor Owls needed a wild comeback and an unlikely walk-off, but they managed to beat the DeSoto Dragons 8-7 Thursday on KJFF and secured a key conference victory.

After the Dragons scored right away in the top of the first, the Owls turned to senior superstar Derek Williams to even the score.

Windsor took the lead later in the third, but one swing put DeSoto back on top in the next inning.

The Dragons held on to the lead all the way until the final inning. Williams got the comeback started.

Williams finished with 3 runs batted in on the 2 hits and was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.

Another Owls senior leveled the game right after Williams.

With 2 outs and the game tied, Max Hartmann came off the bench to play the role of surprise hero.

The late rally keeps Windsor unbeaten in conference play and is their ninth in the last 11 games.

Owls head coach Randy Green says his message to the team at the end was simple.

Windsor is all alone in first place in the JCAA Large-School Division at 5-0 is 14-6 overall.

DeSoto falls to 4-1 in the conference and 13-6 overall.

The Dragons will look for the split in the season series Friday, while the Owls will look to take a big step towards winning a conference championship when the 2 teams meet again Friday afternoon.
